Most Corrupt City in the United States

A study by the University of Illinois found that the federal district court covering the city of Chicago had the most public corruption convictions in the country.

Between 1976 and 2011, there were 1,531 convictions for public corruption within the district, the highest amount in the country. For the entire state of Illinois, there were 1,828 convictions during the time period.

Between 1973 and 2011, a total of 31 Chicago aldermen were convicted for corruption crimes.
